Ile de Re, St Martin de Re, Tout du Cru

Yes there will be oysters, and lots of them. Plus loads of other great seafood, red check table cloths and Edith Piaf in the background. When I was a South London schoolboy years before my first oyster, this was what I wanted France to be like. I wouldn’t be surprised if M. Hulot walked through the door and ordered a plate of oysters and a bottle of Chablis.Il

Cognac, Bourg-Charente, La Ribaudiere

A wooden deck next to a slow river on a sunny afternoon. Perfect, then you get Michelin star cuisine thrown in for good measure. Grown up dining, well worth having the tasting menu, and then a post prandial walk along the riverbank with the missus.

Perigord, Brantome, Le Moulin de l’Abbaye

A shady terrace next to a beautiful river, (starting to sense a pattern?) Michelin star cooking. Service which is outstanding (Even with bored children). Amont the amuse bouche’s were a foie gras lollipo, and a radish covered in set butter. Fantastic

Ile de Re, St Martin de Re, La Baleine Bleue

Yes there will be oysters, and the best sole meniure I have had in a long time. Very nice setting on the island in the middle of the port. Not cheap, but it is worth it.

Ile de Re, La Flotte, Le Nautic

Yes there will be oysters, a very nice blackboard menu of the day. On the back of which is a seafood menu, excellent fruits de mer.

Ile de Re, La Flotte, La Cabane

Yes there will be oysters, and crevettes, and whelks, In a fantastic setting overlooking the sea. A bike path passes the door, very relaxed.
